Xmas Parcels...

These are not complicated, but they are fiddly, which is why I rated them medium rather than easy.

You will need: small blocks of wood of different sizes and shapes, or lego bricks if you can spare some, shiny paper, fine sparkly cord, double-sided sellotape, scissors.

  1. Cut pieces of shiny paper big enough to wrap round the blocks. Have a practice at folding them to make sure the paper is big enough.
  2. Stick a length of the double-sided tape down the middle of the first piece of paper, on the back. Peel off the top.
  3. Stick another length of tape across the middle, so you have made a cross with the tape. Peel this off too.
  4. Now place your block in the centre, sticking it to the tape. Start to fold the paper over the block so that it sticks to it. Neaten the ends by folding them into triangles like a real parcel. If you are unsure how to do this, ask a grown-up.
  5. While you have a grown-up there, get them to help you to tie the cord round the parcel, as you need an extra pair of hands.

The parcels look lovely piled up around the Christmas tree! (So why not take a look at the Xmas Tree project to find out how to make a tree?)
