Lilyelf Miniatures

Lilyelf Miniatures was established in 2006 by Roz and Aidy. They specialise in 1/12^th scale character dolls but also offer for sale a wide range of small scale haberdashery, porcelain dolls and doll kits. They are proud members of The British Miniature Dollmakers Guild and have recently been accepted as members of The British Toymakers Guild. They started selling at shows and on their website last year and have had a fantastic response to their work.

Lilyelf started life five years ago when Aidy bought me my very first dolls house. I could not even begin to imagine the items I would find to put into my new property and was blown away by what was available. Aidy did not share my enthusiasm... understandable he was a 26 year old man interested in anything but dollhouses!

I knew he was very talented and could turn his hand to most things so I asked him to make me a doll and I would dress it... we never looked back! We have learnt so many lessons since those early days and I am pleased to say our work has greatly improved and I now have a husband who is as passionate about miniatures as I am!

We create lifelike mini character art from photographs and real life. All our dolls start with a range of drawings and are created entirely from scratch, the aim being to achieve realism and individuality - just like real people!

All our dolls are lovingly dressed using suitable fabrics and trims. Each outfit is hand-sewn and researched for accuracy. It is fun adding the little details that bring each character alive such as the Nora Batty style tights or the little furry boots and slippers!

A lot of our work is drawn from the lighter side of life, capturing glimpses of those magic moments such as the wife scrubbing her hubby's back in the tin bath, Ted leaning on his hoe and surveying his prize marrows or Lillian and Alice having a good old natter on the park bench!

We have recently started to offer portraits of loved ones, depicting them surrounded by their favourite possessions or indulging in their favourite pastime. All we need is a full description of the scene and some photographs to work from.

Haberdashery

We stock a wide range of small scale haberdashery suitable for all aspects of miniatures including tiny print fabric, trimmings, ribbon, braid, hat straw, lace, bunka and much, much more!
