Dolls House paintings

My career has been varied but has always centred on my artistic abilities. I have been painting miniatures for several years now selling purely through my web based business.

I enjoy reproducing the works of old masters and artisans creating "miniature masterpieces", but I have a great interest in history and a lot of my paintings reflect this - particularly historical figures, costume and buildings. I particularly admire the works of Thomas Gainsborough, Edgar Degas, John William Waterhouse and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Other subjects I enjoy painting are landscapes, botanical studies, birds, animals and pets (especially cat portraits) and still life.

I find that acrylic paint is the best medium as it can be applied as finely as watercolour for delicate work, or as thickly as oils, to achieve deep rich undertones thus enabling me to create picture styles in whatever mood takes me.

I make individual frames for each painting from wooden mouldings which I finish with gold lacquer or varnish.

All paintings are lightly varnished to protect and preserve them.

My paintings are mostly 1/12th or 1/24th scale and have been bought both by dolls house enthusiasts and miniature picture collectors throughout the world. A small painting also makes a perfect and unusual Christmas or birthday gift to a loved one, a portrait of a favourite pet, person or famous building are just some of the many possibilities.

I also undertake commissions for specific miniature paintings - please contact me if you would like more details.

Dolls house Artist Accessories

As my interest in miniatures has grown, new thoughts and ideas have enabled me to extend my range of individually created items, ideal for a miniature artist's studio.

"Still life set-ups" and "paintings in production" for display on an easel provide a realistic look to any studio. Smaller items such as tubes of paint, coloured crayons, brushes and palettes all add to the effect in a truly miniature world.

Miniature Victorian Photographs, Prints and Tapestries

I can also offer other handcrafted pictures/art for your dolls house settings. Whether your house is Victorian, Tudor, Rococo or set in another historical time, I sell a variety of prints to enhance any wall.

Miniature sepia photographs depicting life and bygone times of the Victorian and Edwardian eras are printed on gloss photographic paper and mounted into quality handcrafted wooden picture frames. These photographs will bring a truly realistic look to any room setting.

Also available are a collection of prints on cotton canvas reproducing a real tapestry effect.
