A QUICK & EASY HANDBAG PROJECT

A girl can’t have too many handbags, so what are you waiting for? This project is so easy (no sewing involved), you could make half a dozen!

You will need:
  • A piece of fancy braid or heavy ribbon (approx. 2 ½” long x ¾” wide)
  • A piece of felt or wadding slightly smaller.
  • Fine cord for the handle.
  • A couple of small beads for the fastening.
  • Double-sided tape.
  • Tacky glue.

(see photo 1.)

Method...

  1. With the wrong side of the braid facing you, stick a piece of the double-sided tape down the whole length. Peel off the topside of the tape. (See Photo 2)
  2. Place the felt or wadding in the centre and press in place.
  3. Fold over the ends of the braid onto the wrong side and press onto the tape. (See Photo 3)
  4. Cut a loop of cord the length you want for a handle. Put a couple of dots of tacky glue at one end of the folded-over braid (on wrong side) and stick in place.
  5. Fold the braid in two with wrong sides inside and glue along the top edge.
  6. Stick the two beads on top for a finishing touch.

These instructions are for a 1/12th scale handbag, but you could use narrower braid to make a smaller one.
